Background
The Mekong Delta is the heart of Vietnam’s agricultural industry, home to thousands of smallholder farmers who rely on rice and mango cultivation for their livelihoods. To support sustainable growth, GIZ (the German International Development Agency) has invested in modern farming techniques, innovative technologies, and business training for local farmers. As the GIC Vietnam (Green Innovation Centres in Agriculture & Food) project nears completion, GIZ sought a compelling way to showcase the impact of its initiatives, highlighting not just the numbers but also the human stories behind them.
The Challenge
While the project had driven significant progress in sustainable agriculture, business management, and climate-resilient practices, its success needed to be brought to life in an engaging, visual way. Fourdozen was tasked with capturing the voices of the farmers themselves—creating a documentary-style video series that served as both a storytelling piece and a visual report for stakeholders.
Our approach focused on authenticity. We traveled to the Mekong Delta, immersing ourselves in the daily lives of the farmers. Through intimate, on-the-ground interviews, we showcased how new farming methods, modern machinery, and tailored business training had transformed their work. The result was a collection of short-form videos that not only documented progress but also gave farmers a voice—sharing their challenges, triumphs, and hopes for the future.
Results
The content resonated deeply with both GIZ stakeholders and the wider community. The videos provided a powerful, human-centered narrative, illustrating the tangible benefits of the project in a way that reports and data alone could not. By blending real voices with cinematic visuals, we helped position GIZ’s work as more than just an investment in agriculture—it was an investment in people.
